Update 15/12/17
CYFYNG ROAD – TEMPORARY CLOSURE
Cyfyng Road in Ystalyfera will be temporarily closed to traffic for around five days in January so tree removal work above a retaining wall can take place safely.
The Engineering team will be undertaking essential removal of trees at the location from January 15th 2018 until the works are completed – the operation is expected to take five days.
The temporary closure is essential for public safety and for the safety of those involved in tree removal at the site.
The tree work is part of the intensive, ongoing activity in the landslip area which has involved borehole and trial pit studies, sophisticated LiDAR, (laser assisted surveys using drones) as well as re-profiling work to assess conditions underground and ensure public safety.
Cyfyng Road will re-open when the tree removal work is finished.
During the temporary closure, Cyfyng Road will be closed from its junction with Gough Road in a southerly direction for a distance of 1Km along its length to the junction of Church Road.
The alternate route for vehicular traffic during the five days of work will be the unaffected section of Wern Road, Commercial Street, Ynysydarren Road, the A4067 (Glan yr Avon) and Church Road.
There will be no access to the road for the public while the temporary closure is in place.
