Pantteg Landslip Public Meeting Announced
Neath Port Talbot Council has announced that a public meeting on the Pantteg landslip at Ystalyfera will take place at Ystalyfera School on Thursday 7 September 2017 at 7:00pm.
The council is inviting residents from Cyfyng Road, some residents from Godre'rgraig, and residents from the surrounding streets in Ystalyfera in addition to owners of land and properties within that area to attend the meeting to receive an update on the situation.
Teams across the council are currently working to prepare the latest information to share with residents and a number of representatives will be in attendance at the meeting including the Council’s Leader, Cllr. Rob Jones who will be accompanied by other Members and officers of Neath Port Talbot Council.
Cllr. Rob Jones, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, said: “We are listening to residents’ concerns which is the reason we are holding this public meeting.
“We want to give the local community as full an account as possible of the situation to date and it is important that all residents in this area are aware of the meeting.”
The meeting follows the issuing of notices on ten properties on Cyfyng Road, Ystalyfera as a result of longstanding issues with landslips in the area. Monitoring and investigations have revealed that there is a high risk of further landslips and a risk to the occupiers if they remain in these properties.
The council has been working directly with residents of Cyfyng Road to identify suitable alternative accommodation. Families and individuals have been offered alternative accommodation and have either already moved or are in the process of moving.
Further assessment and monitoring of the wider area is taking place and the information which results from those investigations will be explained to the local community at the public meeting.
The council is contactable for further information via a dedicated phone number (01639) 686288 or pantteg@npt.gov.uk
