Description

I am a 16 year old girl living with my family in the Sandfields area of Port Talbot. I have Sanfilippo Syndrome which is a rare condition that has affected my cognitive development. The condition is degenerative so my needs will increase in future. I am non-verbal. I am not very active anymore and require support with hoisting and transferring. I am doubly incontinent. I love being around people, especially people who are enthusiastic and chatty. I love Disney, especially Shrek and Tangled! I am also waiting for surgery for peg feeding.

Purpose

  • Spending time with me at home.
  • Hoisting and transferring.
  • Helping me stay safe.
  • I need my PA to feed me as I am no longer able to do this.
  • Helping me find new things to do such as sensory play etc.
  • All aspects of personal care.
  • Maybe required to administer medication in the future.
  • Any other reasonable duties.

Person Type

A person who:

  • It is essential the PA has experience of this kind of work.
  • It is highly desirable that the PA has experience of peg feeding.
  • The PA must be chatty, fun, and friendly.
  • Someone safety conscious and responsible.
  • Someone reliable and committed to the job.
  • Someone patient and understanding of my needs.
  • Car driver preferred but not essential.

Hours

6 hours a week

Hours to be worked Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday evenings 3:30pm – 5:30pm.

Hours may vary from time to time.

My PA will be part of a team of 2 PA's who will work together to support me.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
